Mists of Pandaria Legendary Quest Line – Wrathion, Reputation, Rewards, LFR and what we’ll get

In Mists of Pandaria, everyone can get a Legendary Weapon. Do I have your attention? Thought so. Wrathion, The Black Prince, is back in MoP, and he’s not just handing out weapons to Rogues any more – instead, he starts a quest line which will eventually – in Patch 5.2 or beyond – give everyone a legendary weapon – whatever’s appropriate to your class. But what will we have to do? What reputation and raids will we need? Can we do it in LFR this time? And how long will it take? We don’t know everything yet, but we know a lot more than you might think. Read on to get clued in.

Meeting Wrathion and Gaining Black Prince Reputation

You’ll first meet Wrathion in the Tavern in the Mists, on the Veiled Stair, which is accessed from the Valley of the Four Winds. You’ll almost certainly pass through here at some point – the Veiled Stair is also the entrance to Terrace of the Endless Spring, one of MoP’s raids, and Kun’Lai Summit, one of MoP’s questing areas.

When you’re below Level 90, Wrathion will just give you a few pleasantries and tell you to meet him when you’re more experienced – but when you’re level 90, he will invite you for a drink in the quest A Legend in the Making.

At that point, he’ll ask you to prove yourself to him by killing Level 90 Mogu and Mantid mobs in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, Townlong Steppes and the Dread Wastes – unless you’re a Rogue who completed his questline in WoW Patch 4.3, in which case he’ll automatically trust you. (That’s a pretty neat touch, I think you’ll agree.) Rogues who got part of the way there will get a big reputation boost and will have less critters to kill.

The Raid Quests, Sigils of Power and Sigils of Wisdom

Wrathion will then ask you to collect Sigils of Power and Sigils of Wisdom. These are fairly simple – just tokens that drop from all MoP raid bosses.

Excitingly for people who aren’t in a raid group, it would appear these sigils will also drop in LFR – or at least they did in beta. Beyond that, we don’t know much about where they’ll drop – in the beta, the Sigils of Power dropped from all bosses, whereas the Sigils of Wisdom only dropped for a few, but it seems likely this will change.

After that, Wrathion will send you to kill the Sha of Fear in the Terrace of Endless Spring, the final raid of Tier 14, aka WoW Patch 5.0. This quest, Fear Itself, will see you carrying crystalised fear back to Wrathion, who will present you with a Legendary …

Yep, the questline isn’t nearly finished, and won’t be for a long while – but you will get a Crystallized Dread, Crystallized Horror, or Crystallized Terror gem, granting a whopping 500 Strength, Intellect or Agility when placed into one of the special weapons which drop from bosses in the last two raids of MoP Tier 14.

And after that?

We just don’t know what happens next. What we’ve seen so far is supposedly the first “Chapter” in the Legendary storyline – the next one, coming in 5.1, is “Wrathion’s War”, with “The Two Princes” and “Judgement of the Black Prince” after that.

We don’t know when we will get our Legendaries, or what will happen after. Blizzard have said that Legendaries will take the entire expansion to acquire, but that might be subject to change.

We do know that, from data-mining, the options eventually available will be Legendary Axe, Legendary Fist Weapon, Legendary Gun (sorry, bow-loving Hunters!), Legendary Knife, Legendary Mace, Legendary Shield, Legendary Staff, and Legendary Sword. Presumably one or more of those will be two-handed, or we’re going to have some unhappy Pallies, DKs and Warriors in the house. We also know that a mysterious item called the Breath of the Black Prince will be involved at some point.

Erm, Mr Wrathion, have you tried… Tunes?
