Tol Barad is Cataclysm’s main PvP zone. It’s home to Baradin Hold, as well as a hub of daily quests. If you’re wondering how to get to Tol Barad, here’s our easy guide.
It’s all about the portal
Unless you’re lucky enough to be summoned by the rest of your raid (either by a summoning portal, via the summoning stone outside Baradin Hold, or using a Mage’s portal), the only way to get to Tol Barad is by stepping through the portal in your capital city. The Tol Barad is located with the rest of the Cataclyzm zone portals (just above the Valley of Wisdom in Orgrimmar and on the island to the north-east of the Dwarven District in Stormwind). Unlike the other Cataclysm zone portals, you don’t need to complete any quests to activate the Tol Barad portal. As long as you’re level 80 or above, you’ll be able to enter.
The Horde Tol Barad portal in Orgrimmar is off to the side from the rest of the portals, so don’t look for it as part of the main ‘ring’ of portals!
What to do in Tol Barad
As well as the regular PvP battle for control of Baradin Hold, Tol Barad also features a daily quest hub, similar to the Isle of Quel’Danas. There are a handful of daily quests to which you’ll always have access, but if your faction currently controls Baradin Hold, additional daily quests will be available.
Tol Barad is split into two sub-zones: the area of Baradin Hold and the PvP battle itself, and Tol Barad Peninsula (on which most of the daily quests take place).
Leaving Tol Barad
Once you’ve finished in Tol Barad, you can leave by using the return portals in your faction camp on Tol Barad Peninsula. If your faction currently controls Baradin Hold, you’ll find an additional portal right by the raid entrace. The portals lead back to your capital city: either Orgrimmar or Stormwind.
