I’m looking for some answers about the idea to make a map showing where bloggers are around the world, mentioned in yesterday’s maintenace post. It was Syl and Larisa’s idea, but I think it could be really cool to be able to see at a glance where everyone comes from – and you never know, you might find other bloggers live just round the corner. There’s no pressure to take part in the idea but I do need to know whether there’s enthusiasm for the idea. If you’re a blogger – WoW or any other game – please fillthe polls out however you feel about it.

I like this idea. I know a lot of players in my area, but no other bloggers.
I too like this idea. If you follow a blog, you know or have a good idea of at least the general geographical location of the author. Mapping it out would be fun though, and may help us to discover those who we were not previously aware of. It may also encourage people in under/unrepresented areas to write.

Is there a form or code we could put on our blogs to both advertise and give people a place to send their information? (I guess this is more for if you wanted to make a reader map rather than bloggers) At least a list of what type of information you’d like to compile would be a good start
How about:
[Toon] Name, [Real] Name, Blog URL, Country, City, extra comments

@Redcow – good idea. At the moment we’re only adding bloggers to the map to see how it goes/how full it gets. I might well add the Pot’s non-blogger readers at a later date if the map’s not already too crowded
For now, the form you suggested looks pretty good, though maybe one or two changes. How about using:
- Name: Blogger/real name – whatever you prefer to be known by
- Website: Name and url of your blog
- Where you live: city/nearest city, and country. State too, if you’re in the US, please
Optional:
- [toon] name, server and game where your main toon is
- [comments] anything else you want to add
