The Bossy Pally: Good Idea To Mention WoW On A First Date?

by on September 13, 2010

Ever wondered if the fact/trivia/terrible secret that you play WoW would help you (or anyone) on a date? Well, Ophelle’s got a take on whether it helps or not from a girl’s view, complete with personal examples. And pie charts.

And from what gamer guys say, you’d think that, as a girl, uttering the words World of Warcraft on a first date would equal instascore. To illustrate this, I’ve unscientifically guestimated the following statistics …

Yeah, you’d think that, as a girl, uttering the words World of Warcraft on a first date would equal instascore.

Buuuut, in general, WoW hasn’t gotten me very far.

Ophelle uses the WoW-as-real-life trick to turn geek-dating on its head with some amusing results. I particularly liked her use of the “real life UI” and the thought of reputations with other people made perfect, geeky sense. She takes a look at the types of responses she’s had from mentioning WoW on a first date and it sounds like it’s surprisingly rare for it to be love-and-gooey-eyes-at-first-sight-positive reaction. Which is good, because gooey eyes aren’t a pretty sight.

But does talking/mumbling/gushing the WoW thing help at all on a date? That’d be telling – go read Ophelle’s conclusion!

What do you think? Has it ever helped you, or do you steer clear of taping gaming and dating together?

You really mske it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be actually
something which I think I would never understand.
It seems too complicated and very broad for
me. I’m looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the
hqng of it!
